Everton have several young players with expiring contracts and decisions are set to be made. According to The Liverpool Echo, two academy players will be shown the exit door.
Goalkeeper Mateusz Hewelt and striker Boris Mathis will both be shown the exit door when their contracts come to an end this summer.
Both players will be searching for new clubs ahead of the 2019/20 season. With progression to the first-team in the future looking unlikely, Everton are deciding to let these two go.
Mathis has struggled to settle at Everton since his move in 2017 after he left FC Metz. The French striker had previously played for Lyon’s academy and he had two Ligue 1 games under his belt when he moved to England.

But his time at Everton has been unsuccessful. The 21-year-old failed to impress while on loan at Northampton Town, playing just five times. And he only featured for 30 minutes in Everton’s U23 team this season.
Alongside Mathis, Hewelt will be parting ways with Everton. The 22-year-old lost his place as Everton’s academy first-choice after Joao Virginia moved to Merseyside.
The Polish goalkeeper never made a first-team appearance for the Toffees and he will leave to kickstart his career elsewhere.
