Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez is a target for French duo Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain, according to The Mirror.

Benitez is out of contract at the end of the season and is currently at an impasse over talks of a new deal.

The Spaniard has grown frustrated with the club’s lack of spending, which he feels is holding them back from climbing up the league table.

Marseille and PSG are both hoping to capitalise on Benitez’s uncertainty by offering him an escape route to France.

Marseille, on the other hand, have had a disappointing domestic season. With five games remaining, they sit fifth but a top-four finish is within their reach.

Rudi Garcia could get the sack as they are 30 points off PSG and Benitez has been identified as his potential replacement.

Benitez has done an impressive job since taking over at Newcastle. He took the Magpies back from the Championship and has steadied the ship since.

But Newcastle now face a battle to keep him. Whether they can fend off PSG and Marseille interest and tie the ex-Liverpool boss down remains to be seen.
