Report: Marsch now wants to bring 'spectacular' 6-trophy forward to Leeds; he'd cost under £5m
Leeds United have set sights on Atlas FC attacker Julian Quinones, according to Footmercato.
The Whites have already brought in one Colombian forward to Elland Road this summer in Luis Sinisterra.
But Footmercato has now suggested Jesse Marsch wants to bring in another before the transfer window shuts.
The French outlet claims the Leeds manager ‘really likes’ Quinones, a player they’ve deemed ‘spectacular’.
As well as the Whites, several Ligue 1 outfits – such as Strasbourg – are reportedly in pursuit of the 25-year-old.
A prior Footmercato report claimed Quinones would cost less than €5m (£4.1m).
Quinones may not be very well known amongst Premier League fans, but he’s made a huge name for himself in Mexico.
The versatile forward has impressed at Atlas and Tigres in recent years, helping both sides to silverware.
At Atlas, Quinones has won the Apertura 2021 and the Clausura 2022.
This led to the club being automatically awarded the Campeon de Campeones title, normally contested between the Apertura and Clausura winners.
Quinones also lifted the 2019-20 CONCACAF Champions League, the 2019 Clausura and the 2016 Apertura at Tigres.
Leeds’ scouting network has done well to spot such a talented player who has gone under the radar here.
For less than £5million, he’d hardly be an expensive gamble.
Raphinha was a somewhat unknown quantity when he joined Leeds, but he very quickly lit up the Premier League.
Could lightning strike twice at Elland Road?
