The Scottish Sun have claimed that Mark Warburton’s Queens Park Rangers are interested in luring Rangers midfielder Jason Holt to London this summer – after Holt was one of six players released by the Gers.

Holt, 27, has been on loan at St. Johnstone this season where he has impressed in glimpses, clocking up 17 appearances in all competitions. But he has returned to Rangers and is now set for an intriguing summer.

In an interview with the Sun, Holt explains his dilemma – whether to wait for an English club, or take up an offer from Scotland. The report states QPR are keen, which would see Warburton sign Holt for a second time.

Holt would find plenty of familiar faces at QPR, in the form of ex-Rangers goalkeeper Liam Kelly and Ibrox icon Lee Wallace. Dom Ball is also at QPR, having spent a season on loan at Rangers from Tottenham.

Following Rangers’ return to the top flight, Warburton even told the Record that Holt should be in Scotland’s squad: “He has quality, an eye for goal, a weight of pass and movement that makes him a tremendous player.”

TBR’s view – Holt needs game time to rediscover form

Whether he will get that QPR is doubtful. Yes, Holt has shown time and time again that, given the trust and assurances that he will be first choice, he can impress. Even at Rangers, Holt did very well.

Clocking up 115 appearances for the Gers, he was a crucial part of the side that got promoted back into the top tier and throughout the first season – scoring 15 and creating 19 in that time.

On a free, he would be a good squad player for QPR especially given his best Rangers form came under Warburton.
