Manchester United defender Marco Rojo has reportedly been put up for sale ahead of the January transfer window, months after he was linked with a move to Everton (Sky Sports).
According to The Times, both he and Nemanja Matic have been transfer-listed by the Red Devils, who are keen to cash in on some of their fringe players.
Argentina international Rojo has made just nine appearances this season, with most of his opportunities coming in the Europa League.
The former Sporting CP man is way down in the United pecking order, and has 18 months remaining on his contract.
United may now hope for Everton to revive their interest in Rojo, but the Toffees have to resist.
TBR view – Rojo a liability
Rojo would not be the answer to Everton’s defensive problems.
The club need defensive reinforcements, but just because Rojo is available doesn’t mean they should try to buy him.
Rojo has often shown how rash he can be, and Everton are crying out for a bit of composure and leadership in their backline.
Surely new manager Carlo Ancelotti would be better served looking elsewhere for a new central defender.
