A report from The Sun has claimed that Lyon defender Marcelo is keen to move to the Premier League next summer having nearly joined West Ham United in January.
According to The Sun, the Hammers were closing in on a £20 million deal for the centre-back at the start of this year. However, a move to the London Stadium ultimately fell through.
But it appears that David Moyes could have another chance to sign the 33-year-old. The Sun suggests that his contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
It is not made clear by The Sun whether West Ham remain interested in Marcelo. But it is noted that a number of clubs want the veteran. And it is suggested that he had a good feeling about the Irons during the previous talks.
TBR View: West Ham fans may not need to wait long to find out Hammers’ stance
West Ham’s stance may become clear in the very near future – even if Marcelo’s contract is set to run until next summer.
They could potentially begin discussions over a pre-contract deal in January. So it will be interesting to see whether they do make any attempt to sign the former Brazil under-20 international in the coming weeks.
Marcelo is reportedly keen on making a move to the Premier League. And West Ham were clearly considering spending £20 million on him not that long ago. So perhaps, it should not be a surprise if this is not the last time that the defender is linked with the Hammers.
