RB Leipzig star Marcel Sabitzer is still on the radar of Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur, according to Football London.

The 26-year-old shone during a 4-0 aggregate win in last season’s Champions League against Spurs.

Since then the club’s chief scout, Steve Hitchen, has been a big follower of the player, keeping him firmly on his radar.

Sabitzer has proved a solid stalwart to Leipzig over the last five years. He has made 197 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit, scoring 45 times and claiming 36 assists.

Tottenham signed well during the summer. Sergio Reguilon, Gareth Bale and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg all proved eye-catching addition to Jose Mourinho’s squad.

Spurs are currently top of the Premier League and there is real optimism that silverware can be claimed on Mourinho’s watch.

Sabitzer now has a key role at Leipzig and it seems unlikely that he would want to leave any time soon.

The player with 44 caps for Austria has become a club hero during his time in Germany with a Champions League quarter-final berth claimed last season.

Sabitzer will move into the last 18 months of his deal in January, however, so perhaps there is hope for Tottenham.

With that in mind, the club is slowly becoming a place where top players will want to sign – and Sabitzer will be no different.

The midfielder earns £78,000-a-week in Leipzig and there is no saying just yet whether a contract extension will be forthcoming.

Sabitzer would compliment a quote of attacking players nicely, whilst the determined character would be a welcome addition to the dressing room.

He is experienced in a top European league and his arrival would be another boost for Mourinho’s squad.
