According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Manchester United are planning a move for Matheus Pereira, who is currently flying on loan with West Bromwich Albion.
Pereira has shone for Slaven Bilic’s side this season. The 23-year-old has scored three goals and contributed six assists to help the Baggies to the top of the Championship.
The Daily Mirror reports that West Brom can make his loan from Sporting permanent for £8.25 million. But it appears that he is also attracting other admirers.
The Mirror suggests that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men are amongst the host of top flight sides now keen on the Brazilian.
It will be interesting to see whether his admirers are planning to move once he has signed for West Brom permanently in the hope that the Baggies are open to making a quick profit.
Perhaps, those interested clubs will be hoping that Sporting and the second tier leaders agreed a similar clause that led to Southampton missing out on Toby Alderweireld after his year on loan at St Mary’s.
As reported by the Guardian, Atletico Madrid triggered a clause that prevented the Saints from signing Alderweireld permanently for the previously-agreed price. The La Liga paid Southampton £1.7 million to allow them to sell the centre-back to Tottenham for a much higher fee.
There is nothing to suggest that a similar clause is available this time around. But that may not stop Manchester United doing all they can to get Pereira to Old Trafford.
