Report: Manchester United want Leeds player with three appearances this season

Leeds United defender Charlie Cresswell is attracting the attention of several Premier League sides, with The Sun reporting that Manchester United are huge fans of the defender.

Cresswell is threatening to enjoy a real breakout year at Elland Road. He made his debut for the Whites last season. However, it has been during this campaign that he has really managed to cement himself in the first-team fold.

The 19-year-old has looked impressive whenever he has featured. He was lauded by many when he made his Premier League debut against West Ham earlier in the campaign.

Injury has prevented Cresswell from being involved of late. And it seems that some of Leeds’ Premier League rivals are hoping that he does not get the opportunity to make many more appearances for his boyhood club.

The Sun reports that Manchester United and Liverpool are huge fans of Cresswell. It is noted that the teenager would be happy to stay at Leeds. However, he may leave if they are relegated and feel the need to cash in.

Charlie Cresswell has huge role to play if Leeds are relegated, so Manchester United move would make little sense

Of course, it obviously would be a highly contentious move if Cresswell headed to Old Trafford. So it is already difficult to imagine Leeds letting him head across the Pennines.

But the idea that relegation would increase the likelihood of Cresswell leaving is also questionable. If Leeds did go down, it would be hard to imagine the likes of Diego Llorente, Pascal Struijk and Robin Koch all staying in the Championship.

Therefore, Cresswell could well end up with a key role at Leeds. He appears to be a future captain.

And he would surely be better off sticking around at Leeds.
