According to reports in Belgium, Arsenal will miss out on Thomas Meunier. Manchester United are set to win the race for the Paris Saint-Germain defender, according to DH.
Meunier is a target for both Arsenal and Man United this summer. He is set to leave PSG this summer with the Premier League calling.
Arsenal are desperate to bolster their defensive options this summer. And Meunier was identified as a top target with PSG demanding €25m (around £20m) for the right-back.
Unai Emery decided to make a personal intervention to give the Gunners an upper hand in this race. He contacted his former club PSG but it looks like he will miss out on Meunier.
The Belgium international is a boyhood Man United fan and wants to move to Old Trafford. This move looks increasingly likely and could be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first summer signing.
Meunier has been with PSG since his move from Club Brugge in 2016. The 27-year-old has played 101 games for PSG, scoring 12 times and racking up 20 assists.
This season, Meunier made 31 appearances in all competitions. With a tally of five goals and seven assists, he demonstrated his attacking threat.
Arsenal lost Hector Bellerin for the majority of last season and struggled with Stephen Lichtsteiner replacing him. Meunier was a top target but it looks like they will need to look elsewhere.
