Manchester United lead the £10m chase for Swansea City winger Dan James, according to a report by The Daily Mail.
James has been heavily linked with Leeds United but Marcelo Bielsa looks set to miss out on this signing. Liverpool are also said to be keen on the speedy winger.
But Man United are at the front of the queue in pursuit of James. With several clubs lining up a move for the Wales international, his Swansea exit looks increasingly likely.
James has burst onto the scene this season, taking advantage of Swansea’s relegation to the Championship to break into the first-team on a regular basis.
Prior to this season, James had only played one senior game. He scored on his debut against Notts County in the cup after failing with a loan move to Shrewsbury Town earlier in the season.
But this term, the 21-year-old has lit up the Championship. With five goals and nine assists, James has been one of Swansea’s top performers.
Now a host of Premier League clubs are lining up moves for James and Leeds’ hopes of sealing this deal look slim. The Whites did try to sign James in January but a deadline day move collapsed at the last minute, according to The Telegraph.
Leeds are now preparing for the play-offs, where they are in a four-horse race for promotion. Failure to go up would surely end their hopes of signing James this summer.
But they might miss out anyway with rivals Man United in pole position to seal this transfer.
