Tottenham could be set to miss out to Manchester United when it comes to one of their long-term targets, Mathias Normann, according to a report from the Express.
Normann has rebuilt his career somewhat in Russia following a disappointing spell with Brighton and Hove Albion.

After impressing for Rostov, it appears that United are keen on taking the midfielder over the summer.
The news will come as a potential blow to Spurs, who were keen on landing Normann prior to the transfer window just gone in January. United, too, were also said to be keeping an eye on proceedings around that time.
However, it remains to be seen whether Spurs are still interested. Since that initial report, Jose Mourinho has taken the reins in north London, meaning targets could well have shifted.
Normann, who is 24, spent two spells with United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, while at Molde.

Spurs, meanwhile, have been linked with a number of players already ahead of the summer. Philippe Coutinho is the big name on fans’ lips ahead of the PL restart next week.
Cheap enough option for Mourinho but Normann may prefer Old Trafford – TBR View
It’s hard to see Normann costing too much money during the window. Indeed, a fee in the region of around £15m has been mentioned in various reports.
He’d be a good option if he can continue his form. However, Spurs would need to be wary of the player Brighton got, who clearly wasn’t ready for the English game yet.
Normann, though, might well favour a move to Old Trafford. As well as being countrymen, he knows Solskjaer well and it would just tip the balance in United’s favour.
