Manchester United are the latest club to have joined the race for Vedat Muriqi. According to The Express, Manchester United had scouts watching Tottenham Hotspur target Muriqi on international duty.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ordered his scouts to travel to Southampton and watch Muriqi against England. The Kosovo international did not disappoint as he contributed to all three of his country’s goals.
Muriqi provided the assist for Valon Berisha after just 34 seconds and played a lovely ball to the same player for Kosovo’s second goal. Moments later, he forced an error from Man United’s Harry Maguire – the world’s most expensive defender.
Maguire sent Muriqi tumbling to the ground with a slide tackle inside the box. The 6ft 4in powerhouse picked himself up and scored from the spot to bring Kosovo back within two goals.
Tottenham also had scouts present to watch Muriqi in action. Spurs watched the 25-year-old against the Czech Republic and he scored in that game too. Despite only just signing for Fenerbahce in the summer, he could be set for a Premier League switch soon.
Tottenham and Man United are both one injury away from struggling in the striker department. Both teams lost a striker in the summer (Fernando Llorente and Romelu Lukaku respectively) to leave them light in terms of depth.
Muriqi has all the ingredients to be a success in the Premier League but he could be a risk. Both Man United and Spurs need to do a bit more scouting before making a move.
