Report: Solskjaer wants to beat Spurs and Paratici to £25m title-winner
Manchester United could scupper any hopes Spurs and Fabio Paratici have of landing Inter Milan midfielder, Marcelo Brozovic.
That’s according to reports from Italy, with FC Inter News claiming that Brozovic is now available for what looks like a bargain £25m.
News of United’s interest comes just weeks after it was reported that Spurs wanted both Brozovic, and his Inter teammate, Stefan de Vrij.
Brozovic, 28, is entering the final 12 months of his contract. It’s also stated that Barcelona are sniffing as well. The Croatian has yet to pen new terms in Milan, despite being a key player last season.
The experienced midfielder made 33 Serie A appearances. Predominantly a defensive midfield player, Brozovic netted twice and laid on a further seven last term.
Spurs are desperate for some new signings and fresh impetus this summer.
Paratici will be determined to land a few players, with Serie A players probably high on his list. Brozovic, then, is a good option.
Alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, he’d form quite the base in midfield for Nuno Santo to build around. However, United’s interest will be concerning.
They’ve just shown themselves that they’re not afraid to spend. Jadon Sancho has finally arrived from Dortmund, and more are expected.
Top midfielders usually come at a premium rate but £25m or so for Brozovic is not all that bad.
He’s a full Croatian international with over 60 caps. His experience could be crucial, and at 28, he should be in his prime too.
Spurs and United, then, could end up in quite the scrap here.
