Report: Manchester United have made their first move to sign 'phenomenal' player Tottenham have held talks with
Manchester United have made their first move for Alessandro Bastoni, who is also a target for Tottenham Hotspur.
Antonio Conte is apparently desperate to bring his countryman to north London, but United also need to bolster their squad this summer.
It seems Erik ten Hag could make Bastoni a part of his Old Trafford rebuild, although Tottenham have already held talks with the player himself and Inter Milan, his club.
United would probably pay higher wages, but Tottenham can offer Champions League football and also have the Conte factor in their favour.
United make their first move for Bastoni
A report by Italian journalist Di Marzio said: “Alessandro Bastoni is liked so much in the Premier League.
“Antonio Conte’s Tottenham has already started contacts with both Inter and the player, without however making a precise offer yet.
“But not only that; in the last few hours Manchester United have also made their move for the 23-year-old.“
The Evening Standard report that Bastoni is reluctant to leave Inter, but Spurs hope that Champions League football can sway his decision.
Are United genuinely interested or being thrown in there to try and spark Tottenham into action?
Time will tell, but the financial muscle of United and the well-known desire for them to strengthen their squad makes them easy fodder for agents trying to do that.
