Report: Manchester City want to beat Liverpool to Jude Bellingham signing
Manchester City are throwing their name into the hat to try and sign Dortmund and England midfielder, Jude Bellingham, next summer.
The Daily Star claims that City are now keeping tabs on Bellingham, who has seen his reputation grow and grow since moving to Germany from Birmingham City.
Bellingham, who is a regular fixture in the England set-up, is widely expected to follow a similar path to that of Jadon Sancho. The winger moved back to England this summer, signing for Manchester United in a mega-money deal.
City know they’ll face hefty competition to land Bellingham. Liverpool have been linked with the midfielder for some time now.
It is, of course, natural that the big clubs want Bellingham. He is a mercurial talent and has proven it in big games over a consistent spell now.
In fact, just this year, Gary Lineker labelled the teenager ‘unbelievable’ after seeing his performances in the Champions League. Coincidentally, it was against City where Bellingham impressed Lineker so much.
Like Sancho, Bellingham will no doubt cost top dollar. But City, buoyed by the capture of Jack Grealish this summer, will be confident they can do the deal if it becomes available.
TBR’s View: Bellingham is made for Manchester City under Pep
When you look at young talents in world football, they don’t come any better or more exciting than Bellingham. It is only because he is playing over in Germany that we aren’t perhaps taking the notice we should be.
But if City want him, and if City get him, then Bellingham is a simply perfect fit for them while ever they have Pep Guardiola.
Rest assured, this is a player who everyone will want. And with City’s millions often doing the talking, it won’t be a surprise to see him land at The Etihad next summer.
