According to ESPN, Manchester City and Manchester United are among the clubs keen on signing Rapid Vienna attacker, Yusuf Demir.

The report claims both United and City are in the hunt for Demir, who is also being courted by Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Demir, who is still just 17, is one of the top prospects on the continent at the moment. He’s already in the first-team with Rapid and has scored six timers in all competitions this season.

Per ESPN, he has drawn comparisons to Lionel Messi, who Demir is said to idolise. They claim that could give Barca the advantage in the race to sign him, with a deal worth anywhere up to £15m being mentioned.

However, City and Pep Guardiola remain in the race. The City manager has added young talent in recent windows and will be hopeful of beating his old employers to one of Europe’s most prestigious talents.

All the signs in ESPN’s report seem to point to Barcelona being the club of choice for Demir. He clearly loves Messi, so who could blame him for wanting to go and play with him.

City, though, are a huge club themselves and the chance to work with Pep Guardiola could also entice the young Austrian.

Demir is clearly a wanted man this summer and City, as with all top players, are rightfully in the mix to land him.
