Manchester City are reportedly ready to hold contact talks with their young superstar Phil Foden.

According to the Mirror, Man City are prepared to hold discussions with the 20-year-old about a lucrative new deal at the Etihad Stadium.

It is explained that they are prepared to reward him for his emergence as a key player under Pep Guardiola, which is why his current £30,000-a-week deal could be more than trebled to £100,000-a-week.

The report explains that some of the elite clubs in Europe have been alerted to the England international, and Man City want to make certain there is no risk of losing him.

Foden, who is a lifelong Man City fan, is currently under contract with the club until 2024.

A new deal is certainly justified, as he’s so influential right now in the first team.

The left-footed attacker has scored 13 goals and set up nine assists so far this season in all competitions, with Guardiola preferring to use him in one of the advanced wide positions.

He recently helped enhance his reputation further by scoring both legs of the Champions League quarter-final victory over Borussia Dortmund.

TBR’s View:

Foden is already one of the world’s elite young players, and luckily for Man City he’s someone that is a boyhood fan of the Cityzens and loves the club.

It’s a daunting task for anyone being labelled as the natural successor to David Silva’s throne at Man City, especially someone so young, but he’s doing a cracking job so far trying to replicate one of his idols.

Guardiola appears to be nurturing him so effectively to ensure he remains level headed.

The sky is the limit for someone as talented as Foden, who expresses himself on the pitch like he’s playing with his mates.

It’s going to be intriguing to see the role he plays during the couple of months left of the season, as Man City are now starting to compete in the business end of tournaments.
