Report: Manchester City set sights on £64m-rated La Liga star; has scored against Barcelona
Manchester City are keen on a summer move Real Sociedad star and Spanish international Mikel Oyarzabal.
According to AS, the 24-year-old winger is one of multiple wingers Pep Guardiola reportedly has an interest in this window. Oyarzabal has been a target for City for some time, with the attacker being linked to the club, also by AS, back in 2019.
The Basque-born forward has a release clause of €75m (£64m), and City are reportedly keen on adding to their attack.
Sergio Aguero left the club at the end of his contract to join FC Barcelona. Whilst the likes of Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Gabriel Jesus could all potentially leave as well.
Not your typical winger
A goalscorer against Barcelona last season, Oyarzabal has steadily established himself as one of the most elegant and enjoyable wingers to watch in La Liga.
But the Sociedad star is not your typical wide player.
Oyarzabal is a leader for Sociedad and represents his hometown club with pride and passions. And his style of play is certainly unique. The Spanish international can play on both wings as well as a no. 10, with the 24-year-old known for directing his play mostly down the central channel.
Although Oyarzabal is not the fastest of wingers, the attacker is blessed with incredible technique and close control. As well as having a keen eye for a pass that can split defences to allow the likes of Alexander Isak to burst through on goal.
Oyarzabal is a Manchester City signing through-and-through
Watching Oyarzabal for just a few minutes and you will easily see that the attacker is a player who would thrive under Pep Guardiola.
The winger has all the qualities needed to flourish under the City manager. And with the futures of certain players up in the air, Oyarzabal could be the player to come in this summer and replace whoever departs in the window.
