Report: Manchester City in talks with their 24-year-old
CalcioMercato report that Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus is in talks with the club over a new deal – with his current contract expiring in June 2023.
Jesus, 24, has been crucial to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side over the last few seasons. The Brazil ace has clocked up 210 appearances for City.
In that time, the 52-time Brazil striker has scored an impressive 87 goals. That is a ratio of a goal less than every three games for City.
Not only that, but Jesus has also laid on 40 assists for the current Premier League champions. But his contract is about to enter the last 18 months.
Juventus and other clubs have been linked with a move for the underrated £90k-a-week ace (Spotrac), especially with City likely to bring in a striker.
But CM report that Manchester City are in talks to extend the striker’s contract. Given he is still only 24, he is an excellent option for Guardiola.
Manchester City in Jesus talks: Unsung hero deserves more praise
To have produced 127 goal involvements in just 210 games for City is quite incredible. If Jesus was English, he would be afforded enormous praise.
His work rate up top is incredible. He is unselfish, but not unselfish to the point where he does not score goals. Jesus has been excellent for City.
The striker needs a new deal and certainly deserves one. Hopefully for City, a deal can be struck in the coming weeks and months.
For Jesus, he may feel that he might want to find a new club given his intermittent game time – but City cannot let that happen.
