Report: Manchester City frontrunners for striker Pep Guardiola called 'incredible' in 2019
Manchester City are reportedly frontrunners to sign Harry Kane, according to talkSPORT.
The Citizens, who will part company with Etihad Stadium legend Sergio Aguero in the summer, have been linked with the Tottenham talisman in recent days.
Kane has enjoyed another outstanding campaign for Spurs, breaking the 30-goal mark in all competitions and scoring over 20 goals in the Premier League.
However, the 27-year-old’s long wait for major silverware is set to continue, with Spurs finishing the season empty-handed, while Champions League football is not on the horizon either.
Multiple media reports have claimed that the England captain has decided on his future and hopes to leave Tottenham this summer.
TalkSPORT transfer correspondent Alex Crook believes that “player power will win” in this case and has claimed that Kane has spoken to England teammates about the North West.
“I don’t really see any other outcome now when Kane’s people have made it so public he wants to leave,” Crook told talkSPORT. “Player power will win out here.
“I think he probably will end up at Man City. Manchester United is another possible destination.
“I know he has been speaking on international duty to players from both those clubs about relocating to the North West. That is how serious he is about getting this move.
“It will ultimately come down to how much money Daniel Levy can prise out of one of those two clubs. I would make Man City the favourites.”
Kane is a truly world-class striker playing for a team that hasn’t won silverware in 13 years and won’t even compete in the Champions League next season, and frankly he deserves better.
City, meanwhile, are set to lose a world-class striker this summer, with Sergio Aguero out of contract, so it makes sense for Kane to be linked with the Etihad.
Guardiola told Sky Sports in 2019 that Kane is an “incredible striker” who “has everything” in terms of skill set – he won’t come cheap but he’d certainly be worth it.
