According to Brazilian outlet UOL, Manchester City are keen on signing Palmeiras youngster, Giovani, as they continue their South American recruitment drive.

City have turned their attentions to the South American countries as they look to bolster their ranks at youth level. The club have already signed Kayky from Fluminese, while Metinho is also set to arrive.

And Pep Guardiola’s scouting network have not got their eyes on Palmeiras starlet Giovani, who is said to have scored more than 100 goals in the youth ranks for the Brazilian outfit.

The report from UOL claims City have already seen an approach worth around £10m rebuffed by the Brazilian club. Instead, they’re said to be looking for a fee in the region of £20m for their 17-year-old talent.

Of course, this sort of money isn’t an issue for City to find. However, in the midst of the pandemic and with FFP to think about, the club will be looking to strike the best deal it can.

TBR View: City continuing their quest for dominance here

The juggernaut that is Manchester City just keeps on moving forward it seems. They were the on English club to come out with the smallest bit of credit from the ESL debacle and now they want to keep building.

It’s clear they are setting up camp in South America, too. The signings of Kayky and Metinho already show this, while Giovani is another name to add to the collection.

City are building for the future it seems here and it’s a good model to follow, given the talent we’ve seen emerge from these countries over the years.
