Report: Manchester City eye Leeds star Raphinha
Leeds United star Raphinha is one of the players wanted by Manchester City as Pep Guardiola looks to bolster his attacking options this summer, according to a report from UOL Esporte.
City, of course, are coming to terms with an agonising end to an amazing season.
The Cityzens won the Premier League, largely at a canter. However, they were denied the Champions League crown with defeat in the final.
UOL Esporte reports that Guardiola only wants to replace those who are or may be leaving this summer. And one area he does want to bolster is in the final third.
According to the report, a number of names are on their radar including Harry Kane and Joao Felix.
But UOL Esporte also claims that City are interested in Raphinha.
The Brazilian has enjoyed an outstanding first year in the Premier League.
He arrived for just £17 million (via BBC Sport). And despite not getting the chance to work with Marcelo Bielsa in pre-season, he took little time to get up to speed at Elland Road.
Ultimately, he ended the season with six goals and nine assists. He also established himself as arguably the most exciting player in an exhilarating Leeds side.
City loanee Jack Harrison recently labelled him ‘fantastic’. He suggested that he is a quality player for Leeds.
And it appears that his parent club feel the same.
Raphinha may have already put Leeds fans’ minds at rest amid Manchester City interest
Leeds supporters will be prepared for Raphinha – who reportedly earns £28,000-a-week – to be linked with a move away for however long he finds himself with the Whites.
The good news for the Elland Road faithful is Raphinha has already shared how he feels about interest from higher up the table.
The 24-year-old recently suggested that he was flattered to be linked with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United.
However, he also hinted that he would be happy to see out his contract with Leeds.
So that should fill supporters with a little optimism with Manchester City now being linked.
Of course, much can change in the coming months. But Leeds can surely feel hopeful.
