Manchester City could beat Newcastle United to the signing of Bayern Munich defender, Lucas Hernandez, according to reports from TZ Sport.
The German publication claims that City could be offered Hernandez by Bayern as part of a deal that would see Leroy Sane finally make the move back to Germany.

Bayern are thought to be struggling to meet City’s valuation of Sane. Therefore, the German giants could be tempted to throw in World Cup winner Hernandez as part of any deal.
Such news would be a bitter blow to Newcastle’s own hopes of landing Hernandez. A previous report from Bild claimed that the Magpies were exploring the idea of bringing Hernandez to St James’ Park this summer.

However, with City now involved, things won’t be so straight forward. Hernandez was a regular for France in the World Cup in 2018. The defender played seven times as the French brought home the trophy.
Newcastle should expect competition, given the players they’re linked with now – TBR View
Given Newcastle are entering new and expensive territory when it comes to landing players, it’s no surprise to see competition.
Bayern have been desperate to land Leroy Sane for some time. Offering Hernandez, then, seems to indicate they’ll do all they can to land the winger.
It seems strange to offer such a fine player, though. Hernandez is a class act, with a mix of tenacity and ability. Indeed, teammate Niklas Sule has previously spoken of just how ‘aggressive’ Hernandez can be when needed.
Bayern’s willingness to give him up suggests they’re happy to see him go. Newcastle, then, should really be doing all they can to land a player of his quality.
