Report: Manchester City considering on-fire La Liga striker, has 12 in 20

The Daily Mirror have claimed that Manchester City are considering a summer move for Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak as he continues to shine in La Liga – following a move to Sociedad from Borussia Dortmund in 2019.

Isak, 21, only managed one goal in 13 senior Dortmund outings and that saw the German club decide to offload him to Sociedad for £6million at the start of the 2019-20 campaign. He proved them instantly wrong last term, scoring 16 in 44.

Still very young, he has continued that form this season – netting 12 in 30 league and cup appearances. But all 12 have come in his 20 La Liga matches, and nine have come in his last six league appearances – including a hat-trick last time out.

An 18-time Sweden international, Isak is one of the hottest strikers in European football right now given his age – and that has attracted City. Rated at £60million, Dortmund have a buyback clause of £25million – but he is against a Dortmund return.

TBR’s view – Isak a top talent with enormous potential

But is he worth £60million? The fact he only managed three goals in his initial 14 league games before his excellent recent run of league games – and failing to net in eight Europa League matches – should be a concern.

Still very young, though, Isak is a huge talent and it must also be considered that of those 30 matches – he has only finished 90 minutes three times. He is showing the form that is expected of someone much elder, but is he worth £60million? Probably not.
