Manchester City are the ‘most realistic’ danger to sign Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United now, according to the Daily Mail.

Guimaraes has been a revelation for Newcastle since making the switch from Lyon back in January.

The 24-year-old has completely transformed Eddie Howe’s midfield and been a standout performer at St James’ Park.

The tenacious central-midfielder put in another commanding display against Brentford on Saturday as bagged a brace in the 5-1 win.

With Guimaraes catching the eye during his time on Tyneside, Newcastle fans may fear that he is also gaining admirers from top clubs. And it seems that Pep Guardiola’s side could be one of them.

City ‘most realistic’ danger to sign Guimaraes

The Daily Mail reports that City are the ‘most realistic’ danger for Newcastle in terms of signing Guimaraes.

The Brazilian certainly fits the bill for what is required of a Guardiola midfielder, mixing tenacity with brilliant technical skill.

But the outlet notes that Newcastle do not have to sell due to the strong financial position of their owners.

It’s also expected that the Magpies will offer Guimaraes a new deal next summer, to fight off any possible interest.

The Brazil international does not currently have a release clause in his deal and did not want one when he signed for the club back in January.

It’s no surprise that Guimaraes is turning heads with his performances for Newcastle. He’s been an integral part of Howe’s side and formed a brilliant partnership with Joelinton in central midfield.

But Newcastle seem to be in a strong position with the player. Guimaraes has a contract that runs until 2026 and he seems happy at St James’ Park.

The Magpies are on an upward trajectory and will only continue to improve under Howe. At just 24, Guimaraes will be in no rush to move and he could become the centre of Newcastle’s revolution under their new ownership.
