Report: Man Utd reach 'verbal agreement' for £25million-rated defensive stalwart
According to reports from the Metro, Manchester United have reached a verbal agreement with Nicolas Otamendi’s agent as they look to complete a move for the player. The 27-year-old, who is currently on international duty at the Copa America with Argentina, is understood to have been offered a four-year contract by manager Louis van Gaal.
The Red Devils have come to an agreement with the Valencia defender’s representative Eugenio Lopez over the move, and now want to get the deal done with the La Liga outfit for as little as £25million. However, it is highly unlikely that his current club will accept any less than the £35million release clause in his contract.

Otamendi enjoyed an impressive 2014/15 season with Valencia, missing just three matches as Los Che recorded a well deserved fourth place finish. Throughout this time he scored six goals in total – more than any other Spanish top flight defender – while weighing in with a number of excellent defensive displays against the division’s most fearsome attacking line-ups.
