Manchester United have not given up hope of signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen yet, according to 90min.

Eriksen is still a target for Man United but there is one major problem. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men need an answer from the Tottenham man soon if they are to press ahead with this deal.

The Denmark midfielder is out of contract next summer and he is keen to leave Tottenham. Despite the bounce from Jose Mourinho’s appointment, Eriksen is still adamant that he is leaving.

From January, Eriksen will be able to discuss a pre-contract arrangement with foreign clubs. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus are all credited with an interest in this report.

Man United are ready to buy Eriksen outright in January to win the race. This could also appeal to Spurs, who will want to avoid losing him on a free transfer. But Eriksen is keeping his options open.

The Red Devils need Eriksen to show that he is willing to join them to pursue this deal. But so far, the 27-year-old has shown no interest in a move to Old Trafford.

TBR’s view

Eriksen needs a change in scenery and it makes sense for Tottenham to try to sell him. There is no point keeping him at the club if he is leaving on a pre-contract in the summer.

This season, Eriksen’s form has dipped significantly. Mourinho has not been impressed so far, keeping him on the bench for the last two of the last three games. Selling in January has to be Tottenham’s priority.
