Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has an enduring admiration for Tottenham talisman Harry Kane.
The Telegraph has produced an article on Kane compared to City striker Erling Haaland, but of course the England captain was heavily linked with the Etihad Stadium the year before they landed the Norwegian.
The report says that Guardiola’s admiration for Kane continues despite his failure to sign him and subsequent capture of Haaland.
The general insinuation in the report is that the moment has passed for Kane to move to City, and that the player and his camp felt it was almost now or never to make that switch back in 2021.

Guardiola still admires Kane
That said, it does suggest that City going back in for Kane is not beyond the realm of possibility in the summer, especially as his contract situation remains unresolved.
But surely Kane would only move somewhere he is guaranteed to play every single week and that won’t happen at City with Haaland there.
The reigning champions are already juggling World Cup winning striker Julian Alvarez’s minutes with Haaland, without adding Kane into the mix too.
Kane has three goals in three games since his World Cup heartache, including a double against Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.
After that brace, Alan Smith hailed Kane, saying: “It starts with Kane again. He’s been unplayable the last 10 minutes, the centre-forward,” on Sky Sports’ coverage of the game.
“Harry Kane’s been majestic out there in this second-half. His header started the ball rolling,” he added after naming Kane as his player of the match.
“Everything he’s done has just shivered with class. Absolutely brilliant. Typified by that second goal. Glorious stuff.”
