Report: Man City value 21-year-old title-winner at £15m as part of sales to raise an eye-watering £70m
Man City value Pedro Porro at £15m amid transfer interest from Sporting CP in the youngster.
According to the Daily Mail, the Portuguese champions are among the clubs looking to secure the services of the one-cap Spain international.
The 21-year-old is thought to be part of a bigger plan from City to raise £70m by selling fringe players. The Spaniard is on the transfer list, alongside Lukas Nmecha, Yangel Herrera and Ivan Ilic.
Pep Guardiola is keen on signing a frontline striker with Sergio Aguero having departed. Harry Kane and Jack Grealish are the former Barcelona manager’s preferred targets this summer.
TBR View: Porro transfer one of a number of outgoings for Man City
Despite having lifted the Premier League title last season, the hunger and desire to succeed is huge at the Etihad Stadium.
Lifting the league title for a second successive season will be difficult and recruitments are vital.
Kane is likely to cost in excess of £100m. Meanwhile, Grealish is also likely to cost more than three figures if the latest reports are to be believed.
The club’s valuation of Porro and a number of other youngsters proves key in being able to secure the top two transfer targets.
Their performances away from the club provides the Citizens with a boost this summer.
Porro won a league title, Nmecha scored 21 goals for Anderlecht and Herrera reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
The displays significantly boost the players’ value. And can help the club raise funds to offset the effect of the Coronavirus pandemic.
City posted a £126m net loss for the 2019/2020 campaign, mostly due to the pandemic.
It made the need to raise funds even more important and after last season, the transfer of Porro can help kickstart a rebuild for Man City.
