Report: Maldini willing to offer £24m Liverpool target to Klopp, but there's one big catch
AC Milan are reportedly open to selling Franck Kessie to Liverpool in January. But only if they can have Thiago Alcantara in return.
According to Il Milanista, Paolo Maldini will float the idea to the Reds later this month when the two sides meet in the UEFA Champions League. Milan are competing in the competition for the first time in years. And a trip to Anfield will be first on their agenda.
And as per the report, the Milan legend will suggest the possibility of making a swap deal involving Kessie and Thiago. The Ivory Coast international is reportedly a target for the Reds. With the midfielder unwilling to renew his contract with the Italian giants.
Moreover, Thiago could be open to leaving Anfield just 12 months after joining the club. The Spanish international has struggled with fitness since arriving in Merseyside. And a change of scenery in Italy could suit the midfielder.
Indeed, Kessie would also be an ideal fit for what Liverpool need in the midfield. With Georginio Wijnaldum not being replaced this summer, the Milan dynamo could be a suitable replacement for the Holland international.
£24m signing from Atalanta as per the Sun, Kessie has the work rate and quality needed to flourish at Anfield.
Furthermore, with the midfielder seemingly open to moving to the Premier League, the Milan star could be perfect for Jurgen Klopp if Maldini is to suggest such an offer.
