Earlier this summer, Arsenal were linked with Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca.
In June, Gazzetta dello Sport – via Sport Witness – claimed that the Gunners had made an offer for the 23-year-old.
However, the Serie A side reportedly rejected Arsenal’s initial bid.

The Gunners had apparently offered €32m (£27.2m) plus bonuses for a total of just under €40m (£34m).
Since then, speculation cooled as Arsenal went for – and ultimately signed – Gabriel Jesus instead.
Mikel Arteta’s charges could now potentially find themselves up against Scamacca in the Premier League next season.
That’s because West Ham are reportedly making their move for the Italy international.
Gianluca Di Marzio claimed on Tuesday that Arsenal’s London rivals have made Sassuolo an ‘important first offer’.
Apparently, the Hammers have bid an initial €40m (£34m), and the two clubs were then discussing bonuses.
Also on Tuesday evening, Alfredo Pedulla tweeted that West Ham had offered €7m (£6m) in add-ons.
And Get French Football News claimed the claret-and-blue side had actually outbid Paris Saint-Germain for Scamacca.
However, the outlet did also report that the Italian ‘has no interest in moving to West Ham currently’.
Scamacca ‘has already agreed on personal terms with Paris’, added the report.
Nonetheless, Sassuolo’s hand in negotiations is strong – their player’s contract at the club runs until 2026.
So it remains to be seen what happens if the Italian outfit refuses to sell to PSG.
“He’s fast, powerful and technical”
Scamacca seemed a decent shout for Arsenal, but Gabriel Jesus is no doubt the better choice.
The Brazilian knows the Premier League inside out, while Scamacca has no English top-flight experience.
That said, the 6ft 4in ace would no doubt be a dangerous player in the Premier League.
“He has everything to become a very, very good centre forward,” Italy manager Roberto Mancini said recently.
“He’s fast, powerful and technical. He can still improve, he can become a really great striker.”
