Report: Loaned-out Newcastle forward eyes permanent exit

Newcastle United are reportedly prepared to sanction Yoshinori Muto’s permanent exit from St James’ Park.

Muto, who was signed by ex-Magpies boss Rafael Benitez back in 2018, has struggled to make an impact in English football since his arrival.

The centre-forward scored just twice in 28 appearances for the Magpies over two years, which is why they sent him out on loan during the current 2020/21 season.

He’s scored three goals in 24 appearances so far at Spanish La Liga club Eibar this campaign

According to the Chronicle, Muto would be “open” to sign a permanent deal with Eibar if they wanted to bring him back.

The report explains that it would benefit Newcastle to clear the Japan international off the wage bill due to his £54,000-a-week contract, and they wouldn’t stand in the way of him leaving.

TBR’s View:

Unfortunately, Muto has never really looked like a Newcastle player despite being a likeable character.

He’s an attacker with great energy and work-rate, but his brief minutes on the pitch for Newcastle showed a real lack of quality when it came to the final third.

It seems like he’s much more suited to La Liga football since his loan transfer to Spain, and selling him permanently is a deal that should work for all parties.
