According to Goal, Liverpool’s recruitment team are huge fans of Patrick Bamford, with Jürgen Klopp also expressing his love for the Leeds No.9.
What’s the story?
Well, Goal believe Liverpool explored the possibility of signing Bamford over the summer, although their interest didn’t go far.
The 28-year-old was not too enthusiastic about playing backup to the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota.
Eventually, Bamford signed a new five-year contract at Elland Road, and has since made his England debut over the international break.
Despite the failed enquiry, Liverpool are still admirers of the ex-Chelsea forward, and Klopp has openly praised him before.
Goal quote the German as saying: “He’s an exceptional player. The work-rate is outstanding, and he still plays the football he plays on top of that, and scores goals. That’s rare.”
Bamford cost Leeds £7m. While Goal do not mention a price tag, we presume the Yorkshire-based outfit would want at least £50m for their talisman.
Patrick Bamford would be perfect for Liverpool

In our view, Bamford would be an ideal striker for Klopp’s system.
Marcelo Bielsa’s intense style is very similar to Klopp’s gegenpressing ethos, which focuses on forwards hunting down the opposition.
To be a striker in Klopp’s set-up requires great stamina and energy, which Bamford has in abundance.
Crucially, he’s also extremely fit, and does well to avoid injuries.

Bamford started 37 out of 38 Premier League games last season, appearing from the bench in the one outing he didn’t start.
Impressively, he also scored 17 goals and provided seven assists.
Bamford can clearly score goals as well as make them – in a frontline containing Salah and Mane, he would absolutely flourish.
