Report: Liverpool will now have to pay £100m to sign 'unbelievable' midfielder they want with Jude Bellingham

Liverpool are well aware that their midfield will need to be revolutionised in the near future.

Thiago, Jordan Henderson and James Milner are all the wrong side of 30 and can’t be relied on forever.

A report from Record in Portugal has now provided an update on one of their reported targets.

Plenty has been made of Liverpool’s pursuit of English star Jude Bellingham.

The 19-year-old is one of the highly sought-after players in world football right now.

Liverpool’s scouts have been watching the Borussia Dortmund prodigy, but he isn’t the only midfielder the Reds want.

A report from Sport suggests that Liverpool are one of a number of clubs interested in Enzo Fernandez.

Another young midfielder, Fernandez has starred for Argentina at the World Cup, and scored a screamer against Mexico.

Currently plying his trade at Benfica, he’s been named the most highly valued player outside of Europe’s top five leagues.

And Benfica appear to agree, with Record now reporting that Fernandez will cost Liverpool £100m.

Fernandez will cost Liverpool £100m to sign

The Argentine’s value seems to have sky rocketed since Liverpool’s interest was first reported.

Sport initially believed a fee in the region of £50m would be enough to secure his signature.

However, Record also believe that Real Madrid are now interested in Fernandez, and Benfica will want to play the two giants against each other.

The ‘unbelievable’ midfielder could turn out to be the perfect partner for Bellingham in a future midfield for Liverpool.

Both players are excellent at progressing the ball from defence to attack and controlling the game.

Bellingham has the better goal scoring record, but few midfielders play as many progressive passes as Fernandez.

The 21-year-old only arrived in Europe from River Plate in the summer, but has been sensational in Portugal.

It’s no surprise Fernandez will now cost £100m as Benfica look to hold onto their prize asset.

Liverpool will be hoping the business they did this summer with the Portuguese side for Darwin Nunez will ease negotiations.

Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to be happy if Real Madrid pip them to both Bellingham and Fernandez.
