According to a report from VI, Liverpool are still interested in Arnaut Danjuma and they’ll be keeping a close eye on him as Villarreal take on Manchester United in the Champions League tonight.

Spanish outlet Marca revealed in the summer that Jurgen Klopp’s men were keen to sign the 24-year-old. Villarreal eventually won that race, but if a latest report is to be believed, Liverpool are still interested in his services.

Danjuma, labelled as an ‘exceptional player‘ by Jonathan Woodgate, has started his Villarreal career really well. He has scored three goals in three starts for Unai Emery’s side, and if he impresses against Manchester United tonight, Liverpool’s reported interest could become more concrete.

Klopp thinks Danjuma can succeed Mane at Liverpool

Sadio Mane has had his struggles at Liverpool since the start of last season. The Senegal international scored against Porto last night, but he doesn’t quite look like the player he was in the Reds’ title-winning season.

Liverpool already have Diogo Jota to fill in on the left flank whenever required, but it looks like Klopp wants another player. The report claims that the Reds are closely monitoring Danjuma and the Liverpool boss views the former Bournemouth man as a ‘possible successor to Sadio Mane’.

Mane is 29 already and he will enter the final year of his contract next summer. Liverpool will have a decision to make then and if they choose to sell him, Danjuma would be an interesting replacement.
