Report: Liverpool watching Juventus attacker Federico Bernardeschi

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing attacker Federico Bernardeschi from Italian giants Juventus.

According to Calciomercato, Jurgen Klopp’s team are watching the 25-year-old.

It is understood that Serie A side Juventus may for the first time start to consider selling him, as he’s struggled to make an impact under manager Maurizio Sarri.

Liverpool do have some attention on the left-footed star, but it’s unclear on if they would ramp up any interest.

Bernardeschi has had a disappointing personal campaign so far, with just one goal in 18 appearances across all competitions and that came in the Champions League group stages against Bayer Leverkusen.

The Italy international is a skilful attacker that is a right-winger by trade, but has often been deployed  more centrally this campaign and his end product is missing.

TBR’s View:

Bernardeschi is a talented individual that has been with Juventus since 2017 and previously rose to fame with Fiorentina as a youngster.

The fleet-footed attacker has the ability to dribble past opponents easily and is capable of the spectacular, but unfortunately his form has been far too inconsistent during the last few years to prevent him really kicking on.

He has a decent work-rate and a move to the Premier League could be good for him, but there is nothing to suggest Liverpool don’t already have a player similar to him in Xherdan Shaqiri already at Anfield.

It’s hard to picture a spot for Bernardeschi in the current Liverpool squad and he certainly wouldn’t be pushing for a spot in the starting XI.
