Liverpool have set their sights on Las Palmas playmaker Alberto Moleiro, according to Spanish outlet AS.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has reportedly received ‘very good reports’ of the 19-year-old from his scouts.

However, Liverpool are said to be up against some pretty big clubs in pursuit of Moleiro.

Both Real Madrid and Barcelona apparently tried to sign the attacking midfielder last summer.

Borussia Dortmund have reportedly also made an ‘important movement’ recently.

At present, Moleiro is reportedly available for a relatively low release-clause fee of €30million (£26million).

However, Liverpool – and any other suitors – must be quick.

The teenager’s release clause will apparently double to €60million (£52million) if Las Palmas go up to La Liga.

They’re currently third in the La Liga 2 table, so they’re very much in the promotion race.

‘Almost unique skillset’

Liverpool could do with bolstering their midfield ranks next year, and Moleiro is not a bad shout for the Reds.

Admittedly, his stats aren’t particularly eye-opening – three assists and no goals in 13 LL2 appearances.

However, Moleiro’s style of play is a joy to watch.

Goal.com has stated that ‘watching Moleiro can sometimes feel like you’re watching two different players, such is his almost unique skillset.

‘He possesses the close control and press-resistant awareness of space of a modern-day midfielder, while also having the electric pace and dribbling ability of a natural winger.

‘It is a potent combination, and makes him highly elusive regardless of whether he lines up centrally or out wide.

‘He also has a decent shot on him, but it is his ability to take defenders out of the game, either by keeping the ball himself or playing in others, that truly makes him stand out.’

In addition, Moleiro has been compared to Barcelona’s Pedri, one of the best youngsters in world football.
