Liverpool have switched their attention to Leicester City youngster Harvey Barnes as the Reds struggle to convince Wolverhampton Wanderers to sell Adama Traore, according to the Sunday Mirror (26/7; page 80).

Jurgen Klopp’s men have been linked with the former Barcelona man for some time. 90 Min reported at the start of January that Liverpool were in the hunt for Traore, who was valued at £70 million.

However, the Sunday Mirror (26/7; page 80) is now reporting that the Premier League champions are having to look elsewhere – and that has prompted the club to look at Barnes.

The report claims that Klopp has been impressed by the youngster’s energy and versatility. However, it is also suggested that the Reds will struggle to land the 22-year-old.

TBR View: Barnes an exciting target for Liverpool

The former West Bromwich Albion loanee may not take many of the headlines, but he has enjoyed a fantastic season with the Foxes.

Barnes has scored six and provided eight assists. Only two sets of players have linked up for more goals than the starlet and Jamie Vardy this term, with the latter scoring five from Barnes assists.

He is a player Brendan Rodgers has praised extremely highly during his time in charge. In comments reported by Leicestershire Live in March, Rodgers labelled Barnes a ‘fantastic player’.

So it will be no surprise if the Foxes look to do all they can to ensure that Liverpool have to look elsewhere once again after already growing frustrated in their pursuit of Traore.
