Liverpool are open to offers of around £20 million for Divock Origi ahead of the January transfer window, with the Daily Mail reporting that Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in the striker.

Ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Newcastle, Origi is looking to make  only his fourth Premier League appearance of the campaign. He is also yet to start a top flight fixture for the Reds this term.

And it appears that the Belgian could be offered the chance to leave Anfield next month.

The Daily Mail reports that Wolves would be keen to bring Origi to Molineux. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, of course, have been without Raul Jimenez for the last few weeks due to injury.

However, it seems that the two clubs have plenty of ground to make up before reaching an agreement.

According to the Mail, Wolves would prefer to take Origi on loan. Liverpool meanwhile, are looking at offloading him permanently. And it is suggested that they want a fee of around £20 million.

A loan deal arguably makes little sense for Liverpool unless a permanent move is set up for the summer.

Jurgen Klopp would surely be more than happy to hold onto the 25-year-old as a backup option. Liverpool, of course, remain in several competitions. And they have already endured a torrid run of luck with injuries.

There is an argument that shining out on loan would see Origi’s value increase ahead of the summer. But perhaps it would be fair to say that holding onto him would be more useful to Liverpool.
