According to Calciomercato, Liverpool are interested in signing Juventus forward Federico Chiesa, who has shone for Italy at EURO 2020.

What’s the story?

Well, the Italian news outlet believe Jürgen Klopp’s side want the 23-year-old, who scored against Spain in the EURO 2020 semi-final.

Calciomercato write that Chiesa has been on Liverpool’s radar since his days at Fiorentina.

It’s even said that Liverpool had an agreement to sign the 30-cap Italy international, but his desire to join Juventus scuppered the deal.

Now, the Reds want to go back in for Chiesa, who could break England’s hearts if he turns up at Wembley on Sunday.

Juventus paid €60m (£51.6m) to bring the forward to Turin.

Now, Calciomercato say only a fee close to €90m (£77m) would be enough to tempt the Italian giants into selling their No.22.

The Genova-born attacker is simply perfect for Klopp.

Chiesa can operate on either flank, and is two-footed enough to cause issues on either side of a defender.

With 15 goals and 11 assists in all competitions last season, Chiesa proved he’s much more than just a goalscorer.

Despite that impressive amount of assists, Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t very happy with him at one point.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner punched a wall in the Juventus dressing room after growing frustrated at Chiesa.

Apparently, the Liverpool target wasn’t passing the ball to Ronaldo, which caused the angry outburst.

In some ways, that is admirable.

It shows that, despite playing with arguably the best in the world, Chiesa has no intention of disappearing into the shadows – he likes to stand up and be counted.

If Liverpool pull this off, it would be an utterly brilliant signing.
