Liverpool have been told they can sign Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma for around £40 million, the Daily Express say.
Asking price set
Liverpool have made contact with Brighton over Bissouma in the past few days, the latest update claims, where they have asked just how much the Seagulls want for their star midfield man.
Graham Potter’s men would apparently ideally like to keep hold of him, and have offered him a new contract.
But there is a realisation at Brighton that a bid of £40 million could be too good to turn down.
Whether Liverpool will now agree to that price, after submitting an enquiry, remains to be seen.
Quiet so far
The Reds have so far stayed fairly quiet in the transfer window, with Ibrahima Konate their only addition.
Liverpool have raised significant funds through the sale of fringe players though, which has increased hope that a late deal could be a possibility.

Bissouma would unquestionably be an appealing addition to Liverpool’s side too.
The Malian international has really caught the eye over the past year in the Premier League, where he has emerged as one of the outstanding midfielders outside the top six sides.
Bissouma, who was called ‘sensational’ by Ian Wright this week on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, looks the complete package, as he is not only blessed defensively, but also has great technical skills.
And while Liverpool do have plenty of midfield options – with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Harvey Elliott all impressing in pre-season – Bissouma may well be ready made to step straight into their starting line-up.
