Liverpool will consider letting Caoimhín Kelleher leave Anfield on loan in January should interested clubs provide assurances over game time.
According to a report from The Liverpool Echo, the Reds are thinking about letting striker Rhian Brewster leave temporarily in order to get minutes and are considering the same course of action with 21-year-old Kelleher.
The Irishman has made two Carabao Cup appearances this season and has played four times in PL2.
The youngster is highly unlikely to feature in the Premier League, with Alisson firmly established as the club’s number one and Adrian a superb backup.
Jurgen Klopp would be willing to allow Kelleher – whom he branded ‘a sensational talent’ after his first-team debut against MK Dons (liverpoolfc.com) – to head out on loan for the second half of the season, but only if potential suitors will give him regular opportunities.
Preston North End have been linked with a move.
TBR’s view – Loan move the way to go for Kelleher
Kelleher surely has to go out and play.
There is no chance right now of him threatening Alisson’s position, and Adrian has proven himself to be a fantastic deputy for the Brazilian.
He is at an age where he needs to be playing and the Championship with Preston could be great experience for him.
It’s a tough division and there are plenty of games for him to build up momentum and continue his development.
Arguably, it’d be better than just continuing with the U23s.
