Report: Liverpool target will not sign contract extension; Carragher thinks he would be 'perfect'
Liverpool target Kylian Mbappe will reportedly not sign a new contract extension with PSG.
According to L’Equipe, the 22-year-old superstar won’t commit his future to the Parisian club ‘for the moment’. As reported by Marca, Liverpool have recently enquired for Mbappe this summer.
Real Madrid have been continuously linked with a move for the French international as well. However, given the La Liga giants financial situation, Los Blancos can’t afford to sign Mbappe this summer.
ANTONIO CONTE WILL BE A SPURS DISASTER.
As per the Marca report, Liverpool would only sign Mbappe if they were to conclude a major sale this summer. Either Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane could be sold to make way.
Carragher believes Mbappe would be ‘perfect’ for Liverpool
The prospect of Mbappe joining Liverpool one day seems almost too good to be true.
Yet club legend Jamie Carragher has previously stated that the Reds could be the best destination for the 22-year-old. Before moving on to a European super club like Madrid or FC Barcelona, that is.
Carragher said via the Mirror: “Because I think he will, guaranteed, play for Real Madrid at some stage in his career.
“But I’d always feel that maybe Liverpool is that perfect destination for a player like that before you make that next step.”
Contract update a big positive for Klopp’s side
Mbappe’s future is and always will be one of the biggest talking points in football.
The youngster is a generational talent who will likely succeed Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the best player in the game. And this latest update on his contract is a huge positive for Liverpool.
Indeed, the Reds attempting to sign the Frenchman might seem ambitious on the surface. But reports linking Liverpool to Mbappe have been around long enough to deduce that the Merseyside club have a real interest in the PSG star.
And with Mbappe yet to agree to a new contract with the Ligue 1 side, there is a chance that Liverpool could pull off one of the biggest signings in the club’s history.
