Report: Liverpool target Niguez considering leaving Atletico

Liverpool target Saul Niguez is allegedly thinking ‘very seriously’ about leaving Atletico Madrid.

What’s the story?

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Spaniard has been mulling over the decision ‘for months’.

It is said the La Liga champions are open to letting Niguez leave for the right offer.

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing the 26-year-old this window. Some reports have said the asking price is £45m, while others claim the Reds have made a £34m bid.

The midfielder has been training as normal and was even Atletico’s captain during their second pre-season outing.

Niguez would be perfect addition for Klopp

You feel as though Niguez would be a perfect addition for Liverpool.

His time under Diego Simeone has fine-tuned him into the perfect candidate for Jurgen Klopp’s midfield.

And with Henderson’s future less than certain, the Spain international could act as a perfect replacement.

His dogged nature makes him a great option for the defensive side of the German’s high-energy football. The Atletico ace’s average of 1.7 tackles and 1.3 fouls per league game is higher than most Liverpool midfielders.

However, like most Spanish midfielders, Niguez is also great on the ball and would provide comfort in possession.

A move doesn’t seem far off.

If Liverpool can raise the funds, it seems Niguez needs little persuasion to move to Anfield as he considers his future.
