Report: Liverpool staff have very high hopes for 17-year-old Jürgen Klopp has never used before

According to Goal, Liverpool staff have high hopes for Stefan Bajcetic, a player who Jürgen Klopp has never used before.

What’s the story?

Well, in an article profiling the best young prospects at Anfield, the 17-year-old received a glowing review.

Goal believe Liverpool may have pulled off a significant bargain when signing Bajcetic from Celta Vigo in December 2020, for the sum of just £224,000.

The teenager is capable of playing at centre-back or as a midfielder, and is said to have made impressive progress at Kirkby last season before a back injury halted his development.

Nevertheless, Goal are confident that Liverpool have a diamond on their hands in Bajcetic, the son of Srđan Bajcetic, who used to play for the Serbian national team.

Last season, the Spain Under-18 international made 22 appearances in all competitions, with the majority of those coming for the Liverpool Under-18 side.

Bajcetic scored three goals while also providing one assist, although he is yet to make his first-team debut under Klopp.

If he keeps impressing Liverpool staff, however, it surely won’t be far away.

The German has already shown he will use youngsters if he thinks they are good enough, so Bajcetic just has to stay focused and keep working hard.

Liverpool worked hard to sign Stefan Bajcetic

In our view, the Reds must have a lot of faith in Bajcetic, as they worked very hard to secure his signature.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool had been scouting the teenager since 2019 before they beat Manchester United to his services in 2020.

It is also said that Liverpool met Bajcetic’s family and agent, as well as Celta Vigo, to explain why a move to Merseyside would be best for his development.

A lot of work went into his signing, and fortunately, his displays at Kirkby suggest it was all worth it.
