Liverpool are on the verge of completing a move for young Brazilian goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga.

According to the very reliable UOL, the Reds are primed to confirm the capture of the South American stopper from Fluminense.

The publication say the fee will be €2 million/£1.8 million for the 17-year-old – an offer deemed too good to turn down.

Fluminense are just one of many football clubs across the world to have been impacted by the global health crisis, meaning they’ve reluctantly agreed to cash in on their highly-rated prodigy

Apparently the Brazilian outfit will have a 25% sell-on clause included in the contract, entitling them to a cut of any future transfer fee.

The move should be completed in the coming days, and because the player has a European passport, he does not have to wait until he turns 18 to make the switch.

TBR’s View – Another one for the future?

Liverpool clearly see something in Pitaluga, with UOL adding the club have been watching him since last year.

To be spending £1.8 million on a young player who has not even made a first-team appearance yet certainly suggests he’s a kid with big potential.

Liverpool fans would like to hope he could perhaps one day be the heir to Alisson, and hopefully he can take advantage of the tremendous setup at Melwood and make his mark at Anfield someday.
