Liverpool trio Marko Grujic, Xherdan Shaqiri and Harry Wilson are all set to stay at Anfield beyond tonight’s transfer deadline.

All three had been linked with moves away from the club but the Liverpool Echo has confirmed the three fringer players will stick around.

It puts all three in a difficult situation with their chances of first-team football looking increasingly bleak.

Grujic and Wilson both played in last week’s Carabao Cup defeat against Arsenal, with winger Wilson missing the crucial penalty to eliminate Liverpool.

He had been linked with a move to Burnley but valued at £20 million they declined to pursue their interest any further (Lancs Live).

Grujic was Jurgen Klopp’s first addition when he checked in back in 2016 and had been linked with West Ham and Southampton.

He hasn’t been able to agree on a loan to either of those clubs and the 24-year-old also remains at Anfield.

Shaqiri was left out of last weekend’s cup game, despite excelling in the previous round against Lincoln City.

Klopp suggested afterwards that a deal was close for the £80,000-a-week trickster to leave.

Sevilla and Fenerbahce were reportedly keen to sign the player but like Wilson and Grujic nothing has come to fruition.

Liverpool lost 7-2 to Aston Villa last night and it asks the question of whether Klopp is keen to keep his squad on the hefty side.

Grujic, in particular, looks like a player with bags of potential and now he’s set to stick around he might earn a chance at some point.

Wilson has played in the Championship previously with both Hull and Derby and it remains to be seen whether Klopp might let the 23-year-old out on a similar deal.
