Liverpool scouted Trabzonspor youngster Abdulkadir Omur at the weekend, according to Turkish media outlet Fotospor.
Delegates from Liverpool were present in Istanbul last weekend to watch Fenerbahce’s 1-1 draw with Trabzonspor.
The focus of their visit was Omur, who impressed in action for Trabzonspor. The 19-year-old talent provided the assist for Trabzonspor’s goal to catch the eye.
It was Omur’s seventh assist of the season and he also has three goals to his name in the Super Lig. Already thriving in Turkey’s top-flight, Omur is being tipped for a summer move away from Trabzonspor.
The Turkey under-21 international operates as an attack-minded central midfield playmaker and his performances this season have attracted glances from England.
Back in January, Turkish website Karadeniz Gazete reported that Omur was wanted by both Liverpool and Newcastle United.
But it seems the Reds are trying to steal a march on Rafa Benitez’s men by sending scouts to check up on Omur’s progress.
Newcastle’s interest might have waned since January as well after they signed Miguel Almiron in a club-record deal.
Omur has been heavily linked with Liverpool in the recent past and it seems that a concrete bid could follow this summer.
If Liverpool were impressed with the Turkish midfielder, then they would need to launch a serious bid as Trabzonspor have tied him down until 2022.
