Liverpool scouts went to watch Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir last weekend, and were reportedly left impressed by the goalkeeper.

As reported by Star TV, Reds representatives were present to cast their eyes over the 23-year-old against Fenerbahce.

Cakir made eight saves in the game as he helped his side hold out for a point.

Liverpool have apparently made contact with Trabzonspor officials to let them know that they intend to monitor the talented stopper over the next few months.

The Reds brought in Adrian this summer to replace the departed Simon Mignolet, with the Spaniard currently covering for the injured Alisson.

They also handed veteran free agent Andy Lonergan a short-term deal because of the Brazilian’s situation.

Liverpool could have competition for Cakir should they wish to pursue him, with French outfit Bordeaux said to be keen.

TBR’s view

Cakir has really been making a name for himself over in Turkish football.

His superb form last season resulted in him making his international debut in May, and the 6ft 3in star looks set for a bright future.

Perhaps he could be the man to push Alisson at Anfield later down the line.

The Brazilian is obviously firmly established as the number one for the Champions League holders, but once Adrian moves on, the exciting Cakir could well come in and challenge.
